FocusFlow Privacy Policy

Introduction
FocusFlow ("we", "our", or "the app") is a productivity application designed to help you manage your screen time on social media applications. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Data We Collect
FocusFlow collects the following information:
- Account Information: Your email address and display name, for authentication and to identify you within the app (including on the leaderboard, see below).
- App Usage Data: Package names and daily usage duration of social media applications including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Snapchat.
- App-Generated Content: Tasks, habits, badges, daily points, and streaks you create or earn while using the app.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to:
- Track your daily screen time on social media apps
- Calculate your focus score and daily points
- Send you helpful reminders when you exceed usage thresholds or for tasks/habits you've scheduled
- Display usage statistics and analytics within the app
- Power the in-app leaderboard (see below)
Data Storage
- Account, usage, and app data (email, display name, daily usage minutes, points, streaks, tasks, habits, badges) are stored in our backend database (Firebase/Google Cloud), so they sync across your devices and power features like the leaderboard.
- Some data (such as cached usage stats) is additionally stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage for offline access and performance.
- We do NOT share this data with third-party companies or advertisers.
In-App Leaderboard
FocusFlow includes an optional leaderboard that shows other users of the app your display name, total points, and streak. It does not show your specific per-app usage minutes, tasks, or habits to other users.
Firebase
We use Firebase (a Google Cloud service) as our backend for authentication and data storage. Firebase processes:
- Your email address and authentication tokens (for account creation/login)
- Your app usage, points, streak, tasks, habits, and badges (for app functionality and the leaderboard)
Firebase acts as our data processor and does not use your data for its own purposes. Firebase's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Sharing
We do NOT sell or share your personal data with third-party companies or advertisers. Your display name, points, and streak are visible to other FocusFlow users only through the in-app leaderboard, as described above.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Account Deletion: FocusFlow users can permanently delete their account and all associated data at any time by opening the app, going to Profile → Delete Account, and confirming. This immediately and permanently removes your authentication data and all associated records — usage history, points, streak, tasks, habits, and badges — from our backend. This action cannot be undone, and there is no additional retention period: deleted data is not kept.
- Local Data: Uninstalling FocusFlow or clearing the app's data will delete any locally cached data on your device.
Permissions We Request
Usage Access Permission
- What it does: Allows FocusFlow to see which apps you use and for how long
- Why we need it: This is the core functionality of the app — to track your social media screen time and calculate your daily points
- Your control: You can revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings
Notification Permission
- What it does: Allows FocusFlow to send you alerts
- Why we need it: To remind you when you've spent too long on social media, or about tasks/habits you've scheduled
- Your control: You can disable notifications at any time in Android Settings
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your usage data and app-generated content (viewable within the app)
- Delete your account and associated data at any time through the app
- Revoke permissions at any time
Children's Privacy
FocusFlow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
